What did you do this past week?

We were still snowed at the beginning of the week with no water so didn’t do much there. After school started I was able to meet with my SWE group members and discuss a plan for this phase and a general plan for the next couple of ones.

What’s in your way?

Right now I have a couple of assignments due next week that I have fallen a little behind on. I have a lot of work to do today and if I get that done I will feel more comfortable about next week.

What will you do next week?

Just go with the flow basically. I will finish the first phase with my group and discuss plans for the next couple of phases. I’ll also finish this other project I have for my data mining class.

If you read it, what did you think of the Single Responsibility Principle?

It was really informative. I was aware of some of these concepts but I still learned a lot from the article. The visuals and diagrams helped really show the class structure and showed how to split up responsibilities.

What was your experience of IDB1 and reduce?

I was introduced to reduce in Symbolic Programming so I was aware of what it did and how it was to be used. I was not aware of its implementation in Python which I learned about in past lecture and hacker rank. The IDB1 project is really interesting and seems like it can get difficult. I’m excited to work with my team and get through the challenges and make a useful and interesting website.

How did you fare in the storm?

Not as bad compared to others. We never lost power which is huge because I saw that a lot of people did. We did lose water for a couple of days but we were prepared and had a lot of water saved up. We were even able to go to 711 and get some water jugs.

What made you happy this week?

Honestly, starting school again and getting back into the rhythm of things made me pretty happy. The snow and school being canceled were really fun for the first couple of days but when things got bad, I really just wanted it to be over.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My pick of the week is https://topazlabs.com/gigapixel-ai/. I’ve used this tool before to upscale images without losing detail. Normally, if you upscale images it looks really bad and it just multiplies the pixels. This tool is able to increase the size of images while keeping them sharp.
