1. Where did you grow up?

I was born in Varanasi, India but spent most of my childhood in Plano, Texas.

2. What high school did you attend?

I attended Plano Eash Senior High for all four years of my junior and high school years. I was part of a program that allowed students to attend the senior high during the student’s 9th and 10th grade. Most other students were separated during this time between two schools.

3. What was your favorite extracurricular activity in high school?

I loved playing basketball. We had pretty long lunches that lasted around 50 minutes. My friends and I would always find some time every day before or after eating our lunch to play basketball for at least 30 minutes. I also played in the orchestra but didn’t like it as much near the end of my high school years.

4. Why did you come to UT?

I came to UT because it held a prestigious CS program while being affordable. It was also the perfect balance of being far enough from my home in Plano but not too far like out of state colleges.

5. Why are you majoring in CS?

I’m majoring in CS because my interest was peaked in middle school when I attended a 1-week course that taught me some JavaScript and C++. Since then, I’ve always loved coding and learning the extents of what I can do.

6. Why are you in this class?

I need to sharpen my skills when it comes to becoming a better software engineer. I feel like this class most closely resembles what working in the general CS field will be like.

7. What are your expectations of this class?

I expect it to be difficult but I’m ready to learn everything that is being taught and hopefully master all the tools and techniques I learn.

8. How much Javascript/Python/SQL/Web programming do you already know?

I’ve worked with JavaScript and Python but would not consider myself a master with JavaScript. I am much more comfortable with Python than anything else. Web programming and SQL I have dabbled in very little but am looking forward to work with them.

9. How did you like the two lectures?

To put it simply, I liked it a lot. I felt like it was engaging and I was learning the flow of the class.

10. How did you feel about the cold calling?

Cold calling is fine with me. I’ve never cared too much for being cold-called. I don’t personally think it's embarrassing or anything like that if I don’t know the answer to it as long as I’m willing to learn. Also so far, the cold calling doesn’t seem to be interrogative at all. It seems very chill and

11. What made you happy this week?

I was not in Austin last semester so being back for the first week made me happy. I have 5 other roommates so it was fun spending the week with them

12. What’s your pick-of-the-week?

I was looking at some of the AI research that Nvidia has. One of their online tools involves image inpainting. It allows you to edit images with a smart retouching brush. It can replace portions of an image with deep learning algorithms. Some of the results are really interesting depending on what part of the image you want to remove. The link can be found here: https://www.nvidia.com/research/inpainting/selection
